 Quidditch Rules
« Thread Started on Dec 12, 2007, 9:27am »

These are the Rules for playing Quidditch Games:

The game will start with the chasers, and they will be given a Harry Potter related question. Whichever team answers first gets the quaffle and they have to post "pass" to give it to another team member. If another chaser posts after them, then they still have the Quaffle.

In order to score, the chasers have to pass the quaffle 5 times in a row, so this requires a bit of cooperation. However, if the other team's beaters post "block" before the 5 posts, then the other team gets the quaffle and tries to get 5 posts in a row.

The referee's job would be to call out when teams get points and keep score.

To actually score, the person with the quaffle goes against the other team's keeper to answer another trivia question. Whoever answers first gets the point or gets the quaffle.

For the snitch, after the game has at least 50 posts, then the ref will call out "And the seekers see the snitch!" Then the ref describes the place that the snitch is in, like "somewhere in a dark place where there are lots of trees, where two girls are sitting on a tree," (which would be the forbidden forest, where Lily and Gabrielle are) and the seekers have to name the thread that the ref is talking about. The first one to do that will get the snitch and win 150 points for their team!

Additions:

Spamming. If you spam during a game, you will be first warned, then punished.
Spamming includes:
-Posting out of turn. Ex: A seeker posts that “they’re looking for the snitch.” This is an unnecessary post and only interrupts the game.
-Asking questions during the game. You should all know of the rules. If you have questions, pm me. DON’T post a question in the game section.
- A non-quidditch player or player from another house, posting random things.

If you are a player in the current game and you spam the first time, then the quaffle immediately goes to the other team. If you are a non-player and you spam, you will get a warning the first time. After the second offense from either a non-player or player, you will be given detention. 50 House points will also be taken away if you do it a third time and you will be banned for 3 days and 100 house points if you do it a forth time. So, bottom line, don’t do it and you won’t have to worry.

A game should look like this: Question, Pass, Pass, Pass, Block, Pass, Pass, Pass, Pass, Pass, Question, Goal, Pass, Block, Pass, Pass, Block, Pass, Pass, Pass, Pass, Pass, Question... etc.

No interruptions.

Passing: If a player answers a question, unless they say pass in that post, it doesn't count as a pass, so they have to post pass after the rep says if the answer is correct or not. Some players post pass after their answer. Either way is fine, but make sure you know that the answer is correct. So mainly, what I am trying to say is that there has to be five posts that say Pass in them to count as a pass.

If a team has posted 5 times in a row, and a rep hasn’t come, please other team don’t post block and then pass it. It is the first team’s quaffle. This happened in the Gryff/Rav game. The refs can’t be on all of the time. Just be patient please. I am thinking that I will assign two refs to each game. That will have more people watching them then.

In order to determine who wins the Quidditch Cup, we will be going by the point system. So whoever has the most points accumulated at the end of the season will win the Quidditch Cup!!!

I am going to allow each team to be able to exchange ONE player per game. So if one of your players doesn't show up or can't show up, you are allowed to exchange them for another player. But your only alloted ONE per game so use it wisely.

When there is a question between a Keeper and a Chaser and the chaser answers, but is wrong, the Keeper will only have 48 hours to post their answer. If they do not post an answer in that amount of time, then the question goes back to the chaser to answer. Same goes for if the Keeper answers first and is wrong, then the chaser only has 48 hours to answer too. And if the chaser doesn't answer in that amount of time then the quesiton goes back to the keeper. This will hopefully keep the game going and to me it doesn't seem fair to have to wait a long amount of time for one person to answer.

~If you are a player in the current game and you spam the first time, then the quaffle immediately goes to the other team. If you are a non-player and you spam, you will get a warning the first time. After the second offense from either a non-player or player, you will be given detention. 50 House points will also be taken away if you do it a third time and you will be banned for 3 days and 100 house points if you do it a forth time.

~If you are a reserve player playing in the current game you must be on the list of players. There are no player changes once the game is in play. If someone cannot play then you do without a player.

If a player answers a question, unless they say pass in that post, it doesn't count as a pass, so they have to post pass after the rep says if the answer is correct or not. Some players post pass after their answer. Either way is fine, but make sure you know that the answer is correct. So mainly, what I am trying to say is that there has to be five posts that say Pass in them to count as a pass. make sense? I hope so.

These rules were taken from Final Prophecy. I am giving them credit for the wonderful idea that I will use on this site.

If you have any questions, Please PM me,
James
